Satish Kumar Katwal was born in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, India. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Government College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Kerala. He earned his Master’s degree with Gold Medal for Academic Excellence in Construction Technology and Management (CTM) at GainiZail Singh College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCET) Bathinda, Punjab India. Mr Katwal joined as Lecturer(Architecture) in October, 2000 at Government Polytechnic,Sundernagar, Department of Technical Education,Govt. of H.P. India. In February, 2007 he was promoted as Senior Lecturer (Architecture) and later in September, 2007 he was sponsored by Govt. of H.P. to pursue his Masters.
In April 2009, after obtaining his Master’s degree, he was promoted as Head of Department (Architecture) and posted at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Government Polytechnic,Ambota (Gagret) Una,H.P.During his stay in Polytechnic, he has taught subjects like History of Architecture, Theory of Design, and Architectural Design.In the year 2010, he was posted at Jawaharlal Nehru Government Engineering College, Sundernagar(JNGEC)as Training and Placement Officer. In the year 2012, hewas given an appreciation letter by the Director of Technical Education, H.P.
He was instrumental in preparation of Institutional Development Report under TEQIP-II, a World Bank funded project. He served as TEQIP-II coordinator for JNGEC w.e.f. 2010 till August, 2014 and he was capable to complete more than sixty percent of the project to the tune of more than six crore out of ten crore rupees. During this period, he attended various meetings at state, regional, and national level.
In the year, 2010, he enrolled himself in the Department of Civil Engineering at NIT Hamirpur, India to pursue his Ph.D. degree as a part time student. Later in August 2014, he was deputed to the Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur as Project Officer. Besides duties of Project Officer he has been assigned the additional charge of Estate Officer. During the academic session 2015-16, as additional charge of examination branch, Mr. Katwal managed to declare all the results of the University within forty days of conclusion of semester end examination. During his doctoral study, he presented his research work in various national/international conferences. His research work has been published in various referred journals. Recently, Mr Katwal has submitted his doctoral study focused on “Applicability of GISfor Site Selection and Construction Site Layout Planning in Hilly Regions.”
